Are you ready for more Grey's Anatomy?

The beloved series has been running for over two decades, and has already received a renewal to come back for a 23rd season.

In its more than 20 years on the air, it has also released two spin-offs, Private Practice, led by Kate Walsh, and Station 19, led by Jason Winston George, and now, there's another one coming viewers' way.

Deadline reports ABC has officially given a straight-to-series order for a yet titled Grey's Anatomy spinoff, also a medical drama, written and executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, with mothership series original lead Ellen Pompeo also executive producing.

The spinoff, which will premiere in midseason 2027, is the first of the Grey's universe shows to not be set in the West Coast, but rather it will be set in Texas.

It is described as an edgy drama about a team at a rural West Texas medical center — the last chance for care before miles of nowhere, per the outlet.

It also marks the first time it is not relying on a regular character, as both Kate and Jason George's Addison Montgomery and Ben Warren were, to expand the Grey's universe.

However, though it will be built around and led by a new group of doctors, it is expected to still be connected to the mothership series through at least one character, potentially Debbie Allen's Catherine Fox, reportedly.

Grey's showrunner and executive producer Meg Marinis said in a statement: "I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe," adding: "This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey's for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it."

The new spinoff marks the first time Shonda returns as either writer or co-writer since Grey's season 11, when she wrote the famed "How to Save a Life" episode, in which Patrick Dempsey's character Derek Shepherd dies.

Previous spin-off Private Practice, which also starred Paul Adelstein, Amy Brenneman, Tim Daly and Taye Diggs, ran for six seasons, from 2007 to 2013. Meanwhile Station 19, which also starred Jaina Lee Ortiz, Grey Damon, and Jay Haden, and which crossed over with Grey's on multiple occasions, as did some Private Practice characters, ran for seven seasons, from 2018 to 2024.

Over on Reddit, fans were quick to convey their surprise, with one writing: "I wasn't expecting this," as others theorized over what it would mean for the franchise and its characters, like the idea of Private Practice's Charlotte King (KaDee Strickland) coming back or Dr. Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli), who moved to San Antonio, appearing.
