The singer included a compilation of snaps that captured the pair from their childhood and first days as part of Madonna's family, when she adopted them in Malawi in 2017, to their current era as chic and adventurous teens.

"Happy Birthday to my Virgo Twins! Stella and Estere! So full of Life, Music, and Opinions," the proud mom gushed in her caption. "I can't believe you're 14!!!"

Madonna on the "struggle" of motherhood

The pop icon shares the oldest of her six kids, daughter Lourdes Leon, with ex Carlos Leon. She welcomed her eldest son Rocco Ritchie with her former husband Guy Ritchie. And she adopted her younger children, son David Banda, and daughters Mercy James, Stella and Estere, from Malawi.

Madonna has spoken often about the challenges that come with being a mother, especially charting her own path as one. Her own mother, Madonna Louise, died of breast cancer in 1963 when her daughter was just five years old.

"It was the hardest thing, the toughest battle. It was perhaps the most complicated clown act to sustain," the "Danceteria" hitmaker told Vanity Fair once of how she views motherhood. "Even today, I struggle to understand how to be a mother and do my job."

"Because, no matter what, whoever you are, having children and raising them is a work of art. And no one gives you a manual. You have to learn from your mistakes. It's a job that requires a lot of time. And it's tiring because there's never any rest."

That each of her kids have found their own creative passions, some of which often coincide with their famous mom's, gives her more joy. "The thing that makes me happiest is seeing how each of them has found their own creativity," Madonna gushed.

"I never encouraged my daughter Lola to make music or my son Rocco to paint. But I always exposed them to art and music. I'm happy with who they are today. And I'm proud of their work," she continued, while also honestly admitting that "growing up with a mother like me is a challenge."
