New York's fashion scene was all about weddings in mid-April, as designers of the most desired and luxurious bridal dresses unveiled their collections for 2011. Brides-to-be everywhere were certainly taking note when famous fashion houses like Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera presented their glamorous gowns.

Though it's too early to know just what styles, fabrics and accessories next year's brides will wear for their walk down the aisle, New York Bridal Week featured a number of looks that are sure to become popular trends in the months ahead.

Top designers showed gowns with voluminous, structured skirts and oversized ruffles, which create a chic princess silhouette.

But modern takes on the princess look were also seen on the runways.

Also presented were dresses with shorter skirts as well as touches of champagne-coloured embroidery and lovely black lace. Another pretty detail came in the form of rosettes, which transform the bride and her gown into a romantic garden of delicate flowers.
