Chart-topping Adele asked to judge on 'The Voice'

Chart-topping Adele asked to judge on 'The Voice'

Adele's Someone Like You has become the first single to sell more than a million copies this decade, the Official Charts Company said.

Since 2000, only 16 singles have reached the million sales mark.

The last singles to hit that were Poker Face by Lady Gaga and I Gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas, both released in 2009.

Adele's latest album 21 has spent 16 weeks at the top of the Official Albums Chart.

It has so far sold 2.6 million copies.

Her first album, 19, has also doubled its sales this year, with 800,000 copies.

Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot said: "With an almost certain Mercury Music Prize nomination and 21's first Christmas season to come, I suspect her record-breaking antics are not over yet."

And Adele's chart successes do not seem to be all the 23-year-old has to boast about.

She's recently been asked to join the judging panel of BBC1 talent show The Voice.

Although the Rolling in the Deep singer has yet to reach a decision, she would be joining a panel that is tipped to include Cheryl Cole and Cee Lo Green.

The Voice has already proved a huge success in the US with Christina Aguilera on the panel.

The show, grossing a respectible £25 million, aims to find a singer with an incredible voice and doesn't judge contestants on their image or overall persona.

So far Adele has told Radio 1's Chris Moyles: 'There's a possibility that I'm doing something quite big next year - I've got a meeting about it on Friday.'
