BBC Breakfast host Kate Silverton has given birth to a baby girl.

The presenter and husband Mike, who wed last year, have named their new family member Clemency Florence Rose.

Kate took to her Twitter page to confirm the exciting news saying:

"Mike and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our daughter Clemency Florence Rose. She is utterly divine."

She also posted her thanks to the staff at the hospital she delivered at, on the social networking site.

"Huge thanks to the NHS staff at Queen Charlotte's hospital especially leading midwife Jenny Smith and also Dr Gowri Motha who helped ensure had a natural (and as gentle!) a birth as possible".

Kate and Mike had struggled for a baby for a long period of time and eventually accepted they would not have children, until she miraculously conceived naturally.
