Damien Hirst goes dotty for Brit statuette

Award-winning artist Damien Hirst has gone all dotty in his makeover of the Brit Award statue.

Opting for a dot design for the award reminiscient of his previous work, Damien has said he is "honoured" to be following the footsteps of Vivienne Westwood and Sir Peter Blake.

"It's become such an iconic award, I love the Brits," said the artist.

The award has been unveiled in preparation for tonight's nominations ceremony, held London's Savoy Hotel. Brit Rising Star winner Tom Odell will be the first recipient of the new award, which will be presented by previous winner Emeli Sandé.
