New 'Hollyoaks' producer lets 16 cast members go

Sixteen actors and actresses from British soap Hollyoaks will soon bid farewell to the programme.

The move comes from new producer Paul Marquess, who used to work on The Bill.

The 16 characters, including the whole Valentine family (pictured), are due to leave the show gradually over the next few months.

Characters Jake Dean, Zak Barnes and Archie Carpenter have also been axed.

Gerard McCarthy, who plays cross-dresser Kris Fisher, has also chosen to leave as he prepares to take part in Flashdance: The Musical in the West End.
