Royal silver missing after Queen's rainy garden party

It seems the Queen's first garden party of the summer at Buckingham Palace was struck by a case of bad luck this week.

Not only did showery storms leave the monarch's thousands of guests soaking, but pieces of silverware from her private tent went missing.

The monarch has reportedly been left saddened by the disappearance of several crockery and cutlery pieces, which went astray after she invited some of the 5,000 attendees under the awning to shelter from the storm.

Georgian and Victorian forks and spoons, plates and tea cups bearing her cipher are believed to be among the missing items.
