Sarah Ferguson: No invite to wedding was 'so difficult'

Sarah Ferguson has spoken for the first time in public about her sadness at not being invited to the royal wedding.

The Duchess of York told Oprah Winfrey: "I was not invited. I chose to go and be in Thailand in a place called Camelia… the jungle embraced me."

The 51-year-old - speaking on the talk show that will air in America on Wednesday - added: "It was so difficult because I wanted to be there with my girls - to be getting them dressed and to go as a family."

But the mother of Princess Beatrice and Eugenie was full of praise for the Duchess of Cambridge, saying: "I think Diana would be so proud of her son. Both of them."

"I'm here to say how proud she would have been and Kate looked utterly beautiful."
