Sarah Palin accepts broadcasting role at Fox News

Former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican US vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has taken a job as regular commentator on Fox News.

The 45-year-old, who resigned suddenly from her Alaska post last July, will offer political commentary and analysis on the cable channel, its website and radio network.

"I am thrilled to be joining the great talent and management team at Fox News," Mrs Palin said in a statement.

"It's wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balanced news."

The channel's vice president Bill Shrine says he is "excited" to have the politician on board because she has "captivated everyone on both sides of the political spectrum".
