The world's oldest working film director, 101-year-old Manoel de Oliveira, presented his latest work at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday.
Appearing alongside cast members and his wife of 70 years, Maria Isabel, the remarkable Portuguese filmmaker posed for the world's press on the Croisette to promote The Strange Case of Angelica.
The new movie concerns a photographer in 1950s Portugal who is asked to take a picture of a recently deceased girl by her parents.
Born in 1908, Manoel made his first film, a silent movie, in 1931 and in recent years has in fact increased his output – he has made at least one picture a year since 1990.
And cinema hasn't been his only passion. Back in the Thirties he was also a race car driver.
