Former England captain Gary Lineker proved once again his appeal beyond the football pitch this week, as he picked up his third honorary degree.
The Match Of The Day presenter was made a Doctor of Letters at De Montfort University in Leicester on Tuesday.
Forty-eight-year-old Gary already has two similar accolades from nearby Loughborough Uni and the University of Leicester .
"I feel privileged and honoured," said Gary, who is reportedly planning to marry fiancée Danielle Bux this month.
"I have an honorary degree from Leicester and one from Loughborough so this is the hat-trick, but this one is like a promotion, receiving a doctorate and becoming a doctor of letters."
"Footballers are not known for their use of letters so that is quite an honour in itself really!"
