Peter Crouch engaged after popping question on Italy hols

England footie ace Peter Crouch has become engaged to his long-term girlfriend, 23-year-old model, Abigail Clancy.

The 6ft 7in striker got down on one knee and proposed while the couple were enjoying a sunny break on the Italian island of Sardinia.

"Peter has been thinking about getting engaged for a while," a source close to the 28-year-old says.

"He felt Sardinia was the perfect romantic location - the ideal place to propose."

The couple, who have been dating since Peter began playing for Liverpool in 2006, are yet to set a date for their special day.
