While Oscar-nominated Carey Mulligan's acting talents have been feted by industry experts and fans across the globe, she's been showered with praise from a source a bit closer to home, too.

Boyfriend Shia LaBeouf has been explaining exactly what he loves about his 24-year-old leading lady.

"She's an unbelievably thought-provoking actress, the most talented actress I've ever met in my life, by leaps and bounds," the Indiana Jones star tells a US magazine.

"Neither one of us are fame whores. It works out. It's not like we're the premiere couple; we're not the red-carpet king and queen."

Hunky Shia has been dating An Education actress Carey since they met last August.
