Michael Douglas 'optimistic' about treatment for tumour

Wall Street actor Michael Douglas faces eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy after doctors discovered a tumour in his throat.

"I am very optimistic," said the 65-year-old.

The actor's spokesman told People magazine that doctors expect him to make a full recovery.

A sequel to his cult film about the greed of bankers, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, is due out in the autumn.

Oscar-winning Michael has two young children, Dylan, 10, and Carys, seven, with his wife of 10 years, Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones.

His son from his first marriage, Cameron, is currently serving a five-year jail sentence for drug trafficking.
