Dame Elizabeth Taylor has told friends that she and her former husband Richard Burton - who were married twice - would have reunited if the Welsh screen wonder was still alive.
"She still says had he lived they'd be back together," says his neice Sian Owen, who saw a picture of her late uncle next to the actress' bed when she visited her.
"It would have been third time lucky. They were mad about each other."
The couple fell in love during the production of Cleopatra in 1963, and married a year later.
After ten years together they filed for divorce before remarrying after less than a year. Their second marriage lasted 11 months before they divorced again.
The pair remained close until Richard died of a brain haemorrhage in 1984 at the age of 58.
"She believes that in the last years of their lives when everything had been toned down with the drinking and everything else, she believes that they'd be together," said Sian.
"She's certain of that, they were soul mates."
