Lindsay Lohan lands new high profile film role

Lindsay Lohan's rehabilitation continues after it's been revealed she's secured a new film role.

Producer Braxton Pope has said that the she will star in The Canyons, a story of sex and ambition among 20-somethings in LA, written by Less Than Zero author Bret Easton Ellis.

Paul Schrader, who wrote Taxi Driver and directed American Gigolo, is set to direct the film.

The new role comes as Lindsay still faces ongoing legal issues after suffering a recent car crash and a run-in with paramedics. 

The 26-year-old's publicist, Steve Honig, said the actress has been on set since last week.

Lindsay recently completed work on the Lifetime movie Liz And Dick, in which she played Elizabeth Taylor.
