UK coming-of-age drama An Education is up against James Cameron's blockbsuter Avatar at next month's British Academy Film Awards.
With an impressive eight nominations each, the two films are also competing against Quentin Tarantino's Inglourios Basterds and George Clooney's Up In The Air, which both have six nods.
In the best actor category, George goes head to head with fellow American Jeff Bridges and British hunk Colin Firth for A Single Man.
An Education's Carey Mulligan is nominated for best actress alongside Meryl Streep and Audrey Tautou.
The prestigious event at London's Royal Opera House takes place on February 21.
