Cheryl Cole turns down £4m US job for love of Ashley

Her effervescent presence on Britain's X Factor programme had US producers beating down Cheryl Cole's door as a potential replacement for judge Paula Abdul on the next series of American Idol.

But the Girls Aloud beauty has reportedly turned down a chance to appear on the stateside talent show in a contract supposedly worth  £4million.

A source close to the pretty brunette - who fought to save her marriage following allegations of husband Ashley Cole's infidelity - revealed she couldn't bear to leave the football star behind in Britain.

Earlier this month the couple, who married in 2006, were seen looking happier than ever at Cheryl's birthday celebrations.

While the singer's current visit to LA sparked speculation she's meeting with American TV bosses, the insider insisted she's only there to work on her new solo album.

"She only wants to focus on her music. That's what she is  - a singer."
