Melanie Amaro has been crowned champion of the US X Factor.
The powerful 19-year-old vocalist from Florida won the first series of the talent competition over soulful 30-year-old Ohio singer Josh Krajcik.
Melanie, who was mentored by judge and show creator Simon Cowell, was awarded the show's grand prize, a $5 million recording contract and a starring role in a Pepsi commercial.
Simon tweeted afterwards: "America.I.Love.You."
Chris Rene, a 28-year-old singer-rapper from California, came in third place.
