Hundreds gather to see Kate and William

Thursday February 24, 2011

Locals on the Isle of Anglesey have come out in force to welcome two very special guests of honour.

Prince William and Kate Middleton  are making a highly-anticipated appearance together - their second since announcing their engagement - to name a new lifeboat.

With some well-wishers arriving as early as 5.00am at Trearddur Lifeboat Station, the royal visit generated huge interest in the seaside village.

Kate beamed as she arrived on the arm of her husband-to-be.

She was smart in a khaki-coloured tailored coat, with a brown scarf.

Her hair had been swept up into a pony tail and fastened with a black feathered fascinator.

Anglesey holds a very special place in the couple's hearts.

It is the principality where they have happily made their home in an isolated rented cottage, and they are said to have fallen in love with the area.

William is reportedly becoming well-versed in Welsh.

Thursday's ceremony took place just a few miles from RAF Valley, where the 28-year-old royal is stationed as a search and recue pilot until 2013.
