Sacha's 'Bruno' helps significantly boost tourism in Austria.

Sacha Baron Cohen's new comedy, Bruno, hasn’t just been a hit at the box office. It has also sent British tourists flocking to Austria – the home of his new character.

Since the release of the movie earlier this month, hotel bookings in the capital city of Vienna are up by 120 per cent.

"I would like to say quite frankly – thank you Bruno," said tourism chief Norbert Kettner this week, following the news..

In the film, which follows the attempts of the faux fashion journalist to become a Hollywood celebrity, Vienna only appears on screen for a few minutes.

The majority of the scenes were shot in the French capital of Paris.
