Steven Spielberg is being tipped to make a big-screen retelling of the Moses story, according to reports.
It is being said that the Schindler's List director is close to signing the deal to direct the film, given the working title 'Gods And Kings'.
An insider commented: "There have been glossy versions of the Moses story but this would be a real warrior story".
Warner Bros. first approached the filmmaker, who has just finished Lincoln - a film about the sixteenth American president - and is set to make the sci-fi story Robopocalypse, in September 2011.
'Gods And Kings' would begin production in 2013.
Biblical movies are currently popular with directors. Darren Aronofsky is working on a film version of Noah's Ark and Mel Gibson is planning his own epic tale about Judah Maccabee.
