Penelope Cruz: 'Motherhood has changed my life'
Penelope Cruz says her current film role as a single mum is one of the most beautiful characters she has ever played.
The actress, a new mother herself to baby Leo, made a cameo appearance in Rome on the eve of the Film Festival.
She had been in Bosnia recently filming Sergio Castellitto's Venuto al Mondo.
Penelope plays a single woman who takes her teenage son to Sarajevo, where the boy's father died during the Bosnian conflict.
The 37-year-old told reporters: "Being a mother has changed my life, it is one of the strongest experiences of my life".
Penelope and husband actor Javier Bardem welcomed their son in January.
