'This Life's Steve John Shepherd joins 'EastEnders'
Albert Square is getting a new Moon.
Steve John Shepherd is joining the cast of EastEnders' as a relative of Alfie Moon – the pub landlord played by Shane Richie.
Steve – who is best known for his role as solicitors' clerk Jo in cult Nineties legal drama This Life - will portray Michael Moon.
He described his character as just like Alfie but with "a more manipulative streak and competitive nature".
"On the surface he is a loveable, cheeky chappy but he has hidden depths, which will be exciting to explore."
Alfie is returning with his lover Kat Slater - Jessie Wallace in real life – after an absence of five years.
The on-screen couple left Walford on Christmas Day 2005 when their characters were seen leaving to explore the US.
