Comedian David Walliams is after a rather unexpected James Bond role - that of the secret agent's secretary Miss Moneypenny.
Traditionally a female part, Moneypenny has been played by actresses Samantha Bond and Lois Maxwell.
The funnyman has disclosed that he has spoken to his friend and producer Barbara Broccoli about playing a male version of the character.
He said: "I'm really good friends with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli and I did ask if I could be Moneypenny. I said 'If M is a woman, why can't Moneypenny be a man and have a crush on Bond?'."
The producer, however, did not take his request too seriously.
David said: "She just laughed and not in a good way!"
The huge Bond fan also hosted a 007-themed bash for his 41st birthday earlier on this year, and is eagerly anticipating new Bond film Skyfall.
The Little Britain star said: "Bond films are only as good as the villain. Javier Bardem is the villain in Skyfall so I'm assuming it's going to be fantastic."
