'It's my fault,' says Tiger Woods on mystery car crash

Golfing ace Tiger Woods has spoken out for the first time since his early-morning car accident, in which he hit a fire hydrant and a tree last week.

"I have some cuts, bruising and right now I'm pretty sore," the sports champion says.

"This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect."

Tiger has also dismissed reports that the crash was a result of his wife confronting him following allegations about his private life in a tabloid magazine.

The 33-year-old says the reports are "false, unfounded and malicious rumours".

Tiger says his wife Elin - to whom he has been married for five years - "acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble".

"She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false."
