Marc Anthony marries model Shannon de Lima in intimate Dominican ceremony

Marc Anthony has wed model Shannon de Lima in a romantic ceremony at dusk witnessed by their closest friends and family, it has been confirmed to HOLA!, HELLO!'s sister publication. The intimate nuptials took place on Tuesday at the star's home in the Dominican Republic.

Marc Anthony and Shannon de Lima are now man and wife

The wedding in the exclusive resort of Casa de Campo comes after the 46-year-old singer's divorce from Jennifer Lopez was finalised in June. JLo has said she's "happy" for Marc, who is the father of her six-year-old twins Emme and Max.

Marc has three other children from previous relationships:  20-year-old Ariana, Cristian, 13, and Ryan, 11. Meanwhile, Shannon, who is from Venezuela, is the mother of a seven-year-old named Daniel.

Shannon is quite comfortable with her role as a stepmother. Last year, the Venezuelan beauty was pictured helping Cristian celebrate his birthday, along with Jennifer and her then boyfriend Casper Smart. The image was posted by the pop diva who tagged it "#houseparty #FAMILIA. "

The newlyweds have dated on and off since 2012 and their marriage was hinted at in the video for his song Flor Palida, meaning 'pale flower'. Shannon starred as his love interest and the last scene showed her riding up to a chapel on horseback, wearing a wedding gown.

Since this March when he quietly proposed, Marc has been exuding contentment. Earlier this year, the performer – who has sold 12 million records and won two Grammys and four Latin Grammys – spoke of his belief in love.

"I believe in relationships.

"God has blessed me in so many ways. Material things go but so far. Success goes but so far. When your house is empty and you don't have someone to invest in – if you don't have a witness, it's almost worthless."
