Vernon Kay has been thrust into the limelight in recent months thanks to his latest gig on Radio 2 – and his latest venture is yet another string to his bow.
The presenter, who is married to Tess Daly, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share some very exciting news regarding the Pantomime Awards. Alongside a jubilant photo of himself clutching a personalised trophy, Vernon gushed: "Best Panto newcomer!! HELLO…!! Thank you to all our amazing cast and production team...Love ya lots!! Daaarling!!"
In the snapshots, the father-of-two looked particularly dapper in a smart black suit jacket and a knitted black jumper. He wore his hair swept back in his usual slicked back style and beamed for the camera.
Proud wife Tess was among the first to congratulate Vernon, posting two raised hands emojis and a bright red heart. Ultimate couple goals! Other fans were quick to lend their support, with one writing: "Champion!!! Haha well done mate, awesome," while a second chimed in: "Said you were a star! Huge congratulations Vernon."
A third remarked: "Go on Vernonnn," and a fourth added: "Brilliant!! Well deserved."
Vernon's latest career milestone comes after he took over from host Ken Bruce on Radio 2. His new role received a mixed reaction from fans, with many left surprised that he would be replacing radio host Ken who had presented the show for 31 years.
"I'm absolutely over the moon to be handed the microphone to present the mid-morning show on Radio 2, and what an honour to follow in the footsteps of the mighty Ken Bruce," Vernon said at the time.
"I look forward to playing some of the best music in the world whilst in the company of the Radio 2 listeners who I feel I've got to know over the last 18 months. It's a dream come true to join the Radio 2 family and I can't wait to start."
Reacting to a photo of Vernon's new Radio 2 building pass over on Instagram, one fan remarked: "One of the best decisions they have made giving you your own show! You are a natural! Loved you on radio 1," while a second commented: "Can't wait for you to start so happy you're going to be on Radio 2 permanently."
