Eating salads is an easy way to work in a couple of servings of vegetables and/or fruit in your daily intake. Some can take just five minutes to put together – if you make sure you have a bag of pre-washed salad greens, a few carrots or other veggies at the ready. You can also get plenty of good fats – like the monounsaturated fat found in olive oil, avocado and nuts – by just throwing some of these into the salad bowl.
Before you reach for the green leaves and your favourite salad toppings, remember to make sure you keep your salad healthy by being careful with salad dressing and controlling the portions of higher calorie toppings, such as feta and goat's cheese, and bacon.
