Charles Spencer's Twitter followers are often treated to beautiful photos and videos taken from his country home, Althorp House. And Tuesday was no different as Princess Diana's brother uploaded a video of a heron taking flight on a sunny morning.

Sharing the clip online, Charles panned the camera over the lake and fields of the Northamptonshire property as he wrote: "Inadvertently disturbing the heron's breakfast this morning at @AlthorpHouse."

The author grew up at Althorp House with his three older sisters, including Princess Diana, and inherited the family home when his father John died in 1992. Charles became the 9th Earl Spencer, and set about renovating the family's ancestral seat.

Earlier this month, he announced that the gardens of Althorp House will be open to the public every day in August, with free admission for NHS workers and their families. Due to the current pandemic, the shop and café will be closed but visitors are invited to bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds.
Charles inherited the family's ancestral seat
Diana's brother has written several books about the family estate and the animals that can be found in its grounds, including Althorp: The Story of an English House, while Althorp House's official website states that black fallow deer have roamed the park since the fifteenth century.
Charles regularly shares photos and videos from his stunning home, including ones of the magnificent sunsets, the lush lawns and flower beds, and footage of the many deer that feed from the hedgerow.
Charles announced his daughter Amelia's engagement last week
It's an exciting time for the Spencer family, as Charles' daughter Lady Amelia has just got engaged to her long-term boyfriend, real estate agent Greg Mallett. Charles confirmed the news on Twitter last week, posting a photo of the happy couple with Amelia's incredible engagement ring clearly in shot.
He wrote: "So happy for my daughter, Amelia, engaged to her boyfriend of 11 years, Greg - it's wonderful to hear them both so excited about their future. Sending them both love, and every good wish for their life together. I love that Greg asked my blessing before proposing. Very sweet."
