Cat Deeley has given us another reason to shop the new M&S collection - her cosy knitted midi skirt, one of the high street store's autumnal pieces that we're adding to basket immediately.
Cat Deeley's This Morning outfits always serve as my inspiration for the new season, Thursday's look was nothing short of inspired - we're talking a chic, deep purple high neck knit paired with a knitted reddish purple skirt. Did someone say autumnal outfit of dreams?
Her latest look managed to be both polished and playful, and warm enough to wear now the weather has turned. And like Meghan Markle's latest look, Cat turned to none other than Marks & Spencer for her burgundy knitted skirt, which is one of the key pieces of the brand's new season collection.

- The mum-of-two wore a stunning M&S knitted skirt and coordinating knitted top.
- Cat's skirt is priced at £36, and in stock in all sizes.
Wearing the stunning M&S High Waisted Knitted Midi A Line Skirt, the 49-year-old teamed the purple-red shaded midi with a knitted high neck sleeveless top in a similar burgundy shade.
Knitted skirts are starting to bubble up across the high street, as a cosy and smart alternative to satin midi skirts. Cat's clever styling created a homemade co-ord, with her timeless boots and gold jewellery as her only accessories, helping the outfit have a breezy, put-together look.
Cat also proves how versatile a knitted skirt can be. Depending on how you style one, they can be office-appropriate, party-ready or school run chic too. Cat's leaned into a more glam feel, showing off a little skin to counteract the longer length of the skirt. You could swap her sleeveless knit for an oversized knit, artfully tucked into the waistband to give an even more breezy aesthetic, or a tshir
I love the colour of the skirt too, which is on-trend for autumn/winter. It's a deep, dark reddish purple that's not too bright but a step up from navy or black. M&S calls the colour 'dark aubergine' which I think is spot on.
Cat's skirt is a comfortable buy, as it has a high waisted, elasticated waistband to sit smoothly at the waist. The A line silhouette is super flattering for everyone, as it skims gently over the hips - not too tight but fitted enough to give some definition.
Available in sizes extra small to extra large, M&S shoppers say its "warm, stylish and comfortable".
The TV presenter's top is out of stock, but you can achieve the same look with this Chinti & Parker Wool Cashmere High Neck Tank, handily, in aubergine.
It's currently on sale for £68, and made from 90% wool and 10% cashmere.
How to style a knitted skirt
Knitted skirts are a becoming popular right now, and you might want to stick to the classic styling of an oversized knit or T-shirt. But you can make it fresh with a boyfriend style shirt, worn loose or tucked in depending on your preference, or with a rugby top. They look chic with a scarf detail cardigan or knit too, leaning into the country core aesthetic.
Timeless ankle boots look great with a knitted skirt, as the soft fabric sits beautifully against a leather boot. I'd stick to leather rather than suede, letting the skirt be soft and the boot be tough.
