EastEnders star June Brown to join 'Calendar Girls' cast

Walford Square resident June Brown is heading for the West End. The BAFTA nominated actress, who plays laundrette worker Dot Cotton in the show, is signing up for the cast of West End hit Calendar Girls this summer.

Eighty-two-year-old June will join fellow former EastEnders stars Anita Dobson and Jill Halfpenny in the stage version of the hit 2003 film, which is based on the true tale of how Women's Institute members stripped off for a charity calendar in 1999.

Other stars being lined up to appear in the show from July 28 to  October 17 at London's London's Noel Coward Theatre include Mick Jagger's former wife Jerry Hall, former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson, and Jack Ryder, another Walford resident.
