Helen Glover and Heather Stanning could make British Olympic history if they win gold in Wednesday's women's pair event.
The rowers set an Olympic record and won first place in their qualifying heat with a time of 6min 57.29sec.
Helen said: “The experience gave me butterflies. As soon as we reached the 600m mark, we were in the thick of all the spectators. I just felt really proud in that moment,” adding “This is our lake.”
The woman are already silver medalists from last year's World Championships and won all three World Cup races this season.
The pair have been somewhat out of the spotlight, as attention has been on previous Olympic medal holders Katherine Grainger and partner Anna Watkins whose final is on August 3.
However hopes are high that Wednesday's race at Eton Dorney could see them take Britain's first Olympic gold medal in women's rowing.
