'It can happen to anyone' - Rihanna on assault

Rihanna has broken her silence about being assaulted by former boyfriend Chris Brown.

"This happened to me. … It can happen to anyone," the 21-year-old singer tells an interviewer on a US morning talk show.

The Bajan songstress says the attack was all the more shocking because "he was definitely my first big love".

Since the incident on Grammy night nine months ago, the pop sensation has put her life back together.

She's been showing off her edgy style at various fashion events and is set to release a new album on November 23.

Meanwhile Chris is serving a sentence of five years probation and six months community service.

Rihanna's interview will be screened on Good Morning America on Thursday and Friday.
