Nick Lachey and his beautiful wife Vanessa have been flooded with congratulatory messages after announcing they are expecting a baby.

Jessica Simpson's former husband announced the fantastic news on American morning talk show Live! With Kelly.

He hinted on Twitter that something exciting was going to happen during the show: "Getting ready to take off for nyc for my guest host appearance on @LiveKelly tomorrow. It's gonna be a BIG show! Can't wait!"

The pair have already got fans guessing whether it will be a baby girl or boy, with Nick tweeting:

"Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes! it means a lot to @VanessaLachey and i.....who's guessing? boy or girl?"

Vanessa also had her say: "Thank You sooo much for all the Love! I am overwhelmed by everyone's kindness. I will try and keep you guys posted with thoughts & pics! X"
