Camilla lends her support to Gurkhas' residency battle

The Duchess of Cornwall has apparently given her private backing to the Gurkhas battle for residency rights, a British newspaper has revealed.
Absolutely Fabulous actress Joanna Lumley, who is leading the fight for equal rights for Gurkha soldiers who want to live in the UK, told MPs this week she had received a private letter of support from a senior royal. She refused to say who, but the Daily Telegraph reports the Duchess of Cornwall sent the note last year.
Camilla - who is daughter of a high-ranking British Army officer - is known to take a close interest in veterans' welfare issues. She is pictured visiting the First Battalion the Royal Gurkha Rifles with Prince Charles in Brunei last October.
