Stuart Pearce named manager, as players back Harry

It has been announced that Stuart Pearce will take charge of the England football team in the short term.

The news comes after former manager Fabio Capello's resignation.

Stuart will only be managing the team in the interim while a permanent replacement is found.

He has been working alongside Fabio throughout his time as manager in a secondary role.

Many of the players, meanwhile, have suggested Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp should be offered the national position permanently.

Some have insinuated that Harry's clearance after a police investigation and Fabio's resignation on the same day weren't a coincidence.

Former player and pundit Gary Lineker tweeted: "Fabio out on the very day HR gets cleared. Coincidence?"

England player Wayne Rooney also supported Harry: "Gutted capello has quit. Good guy and top coach. Got to be english to replace him. Harry redknapp for me."
