Liza Tarbuck takes over Radio 2 slot from Alan Carr

Liza Tarbuck has signed up as a new BBC Radio 2 host, taking over from outgoing presenters Alan Carr and Melanie Sykes.

She will take over as a regular host for the Saturday evening show from May 12.

Liza - a former presenter of Channel 4's Big Breakfast - has been a regular stand-in for the station.

She said: "It's great news to finally be hosting my own show. I'm a big fan of Radio 2 and I'm very happy to be the bridge into everyone's Saturday night."

Radio 2 head of programming Lewis Carnie said: "Liza is an established and experienced broadcaster who is already loved by the Radio 2 audience. I'm very much looking forward to welcoming her to the station in May."

Alan and Melanie announced they were leaving their programme earlier this week.
