They celebrated their happy engagement news with a lavish London party last July, but Kill Bill star Uma Thurman has called off her plans to wed French multi-millionaire Arki Busson.

The couple - who began dating in the summer of 2007 - reportedly called time on their relationship last month.

"The engagement ended a while back – but they remain friends," a source revealed.

Arki, who was previously engaged to supermodel Elle Macpherson, popped the question with an eight-plus carat ring.

The 47-year-old is said to be "beside himself" at Uma's decision.

There is speculation that the pair split because of the strain of their long-distance relationship.

While Uma resides in Los Angeles, Arki lives in London where his two children with Elle are based.
