Her face a picture of anguish, Princess Mette-Marit leads the remembrance of the victims of the Norway's double terror attack.

Her stepbrother Trond Berntsen was among 77 people who died a year ago at the hands of Anders Behring Breivik.

He was working as a security guard at a holiday camp on the island of Utoya when the gunman run amok.

Mette-Marit was joined by her husband Crown Prince Haakon and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg at government offices in Oslo where a bomb exploded two hours earlier on July 22, 2011

At the weekend, the royal couple stood along with the crowd to observe a minute's silence.

The future king and queen also visited a church on the island of Utoya to light a candle.

To finish the day on a note of hope, Haakon attended a concert featuring Bruce Springsteen, along with 50,000 people carrying a single red rose each.
