Shakira splits with fiancé after 11 years together

Colombian pop star Shakira and her fiancé have broken up after 11 years together.

The couple – pictured relaxing at their Uruguay farmhouse with their dog - posted a joint message on her website which revealed they actually split last August, but kept it secret until now.

They said they viewed the split as temporary, and that Antonio de la Rua – son of a former Argentinean president – will continue to oversee Shakira's business interests.

Towards the end of last year there were rumours Shakira was seeing FC Barcelona player Gerard Pique, but she denied them.

"Me and Pique together? That's a waka-rumour," she said – referring to her World Cup song Waka Waka.
