Guy Ritchie to give King Arthur a Hollywood makeover

Though he’s famed for tough-guy gangster films such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Guy Ritchie is now turning his directing talents to the stuff of legends.

Following on from the success of recent box office hit Sherlock Holmes, Madonna’s ex husband has signed up to direct a Hollywood reimagining of the treasured tale of English legend King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.

The plot, which is to be based upon literary classic Le Morte d'Arthur by Thomas Mallory, will centre upon the Medieval myth of the sixth-century Celtic king who defended Britain against the invading Saxons, and the gathering of the knights.

Industry insiders have apparently described it as “the Magnificent Seven in armour”.
