Singer Emeli Sandé, who performed at the Olympic closing ceremony, has said that it was her father who inspired her to pursue a career in music.
On Sunday Emeli wowed audiences as she sang on a newspaper covered stage.
The 25-year-old said her Zambian father Joel, 50, who ran the school choir, sparked her passion for singing.
Emeli, who dropped out of a medical degree at the University of Glasgow in favour of a record deal, said that her dad was "naturally musical" and "the sort of person that could pick up an instrument and play it".
She added: "Music is the main connection I have with my dad ... knowing he was behind me was really important to me. I hope I never let him down."
