Academy award winner Dustin Hoffman is set to receive America's highest arts honour in Washington.
The star will be joining seven other recipients for the 2012 Kennedy Centre Honours, including American talk show host David Letterman and rock band Led Zeppelin.
The nation's greatest honour is given to those who have influenced and inspired American culture through the arts.
Selected by President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, the honorees will be appraised on December 2.
Dustin, 75, said it seemed harder to win the Kennedy Centre Honours than the Oscars or Golden Globes. He described himself as "honoured and flattered" to be included.
