Sarah Ferguson has said that she would be "homeless" were it not for the generosity of her ex-husband Prince Andrew.

In the first episode of Finding Sarah, a new six part series for Oprah Winfrey's TV channel, Sarah admitted she owed her lifestyle to the Duke, who allows her to live in a wing of his official residence.

She also said she is "continually on the verge of bankruptcy", adding: "I don’t really understand finances at all."

During the programme, Sarah is interviewed by financial expert Suze Orman and TV psychiatrist Phil McGraw.

During an emotional on-screen therapy session, Dr Phil brands the Duchess as being full of "self hate".

She agrees, saying: "I'm disgusting and completely pointless. I'm 51 and I have no self-worth."
