The singing sensation's rise to the top
Susan Boyle is to see the story of her incredible rise to worldwide success brought to life in a new stage musical.
Actress Elaine C Smith - best known for her role as Rab C Nesbitt's wife Mary - will portray the unlikely chart star, who found fame through Britain's Got Talent.
I Dreamed A Dream will open next year and will tour for at least six months.
She has sold more than 14 million albums and set new chart records since her first jaw-dropping performance on BGT, which instantly plucked her from obscurity.
She said: "I never thought my life story would end up on the stage but a lot has happened in two years and it is a very exciting prospect.
"I hope everyone enjoys the show and I promise there will be a few surprises along the way."
Producer Michael Harrison said: "She is an inspiring woman and her story is an excellent one to tell - someone with a raw talent who surprises the world and overturns all the odds to make a new life for herself.
"It's got all the qualities of a fairytale, but with the added bonus of being absolutely true."
The production will open at Newcastle's Theatre Royal in March, with tickets going on sale next month. A 26-week tour of the UK, US and Australia has been lined up so far.
Despite finishing as runner-up in Britain's Got Talent in 2009, she has gone on to find worldwide success. In 2010 she achieved the rare feat of topping the UK and US album charts simultaneously twice in the space of a year.
The last artists to do so were The Beatles in 1969.
