Making his first public appearance since announcing his battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma, Michael C Hall was honoured with an acting award at the Golden Globes on Sunday.
The Dexter star, who arrived with wife and fellow cast member Jennifer Carpenter (pictured), was named best actor in a drama for his portrayal of the serial killer with morals.
The positive 38-year-old wore a suit and a black Japanese cap to the ceremony, joking about his new look: "It's nice to have an excuse to accessorise."
And he told reporters he was glad to attend to the event since it was "nice to see colleagues" and to show people "I am doing fine."
He also revealed how he had wanted to keep his condition a secret.
"I had every intention of keeping it quiet, but because award shows were imminent, I had to make a statement," the former Six Feet Under star said.
But he expressed gratitude he was able to make a statement when the prognosis was good.
