Casualty actress found hanged after her series is cancelled

Twenty-two-year-old Stephanie Parker was found dead on open ground near her Pontypridd home town in South Wales on Saturday morning.

She died just two days after the last episode of the award-winning Welsh BBC drama Belonging was broadcast. She'd starred in the programme, which had recently been cancelled after nine series, since she was 15 and had also appeared in Casualty and The Bill.   Police say there were no suspicious circumstances associated with the demise of the actress, who was single and still lived in Pontypridd.

"Stephanie's talent played a major part in making Belonging the success it was and I'm sure that the programme's fans will be shocked by this untimely news… Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this very difficult time," said BBC Wales' head of English language programmes Clare Hudson.

Gritty drama Belonging was a triple Welsh Bafta winner.
