Lindsay Lohan's father Michael Lohan has been arrested after a female companion accused him of domestic violence.

The 50-year-old was booked on Tuesday night for three felony charges - inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant, false imprisonment and preventing a report of victimization.

A lieutenant in West Hollywood - where the former Wall Street trader was arrested - confirmed to People: "Mr Lohan was arrested after we received a call around 9 pm regarding a domestic dispute.

"He was detained after he was spotted walking on the street near our station. He showed no signs of intoxication that I'm aware of and has been co-operative."

Sheriffs are refusing to identify the victim. Michael's bail has been set at $200,000.
